Total the wattage of every fixture and size the transformer above it with headroom, because running near maximum load shortens its life quickly in our summer heat. LED path lights draw 3 to 5 watts each and tree uplights 10 to 20, so a 300-watt unit comfortably runs a typical front yard with room to add later.

For path marking and accent use, yes, since the sun here is exceptional and there is no trenching. They are not a substitute for security lighting or for uplighting a mature palm, because output is generally too low. Look for lithium iron phosphate batteries and cast metal housings, as cheap plastic yellows within two summers under this UV.

Six inches is typical, deeper under paths and driveways, and run in conduit anywhere it crosses hardscape. In finished rock beds we route under the fabric so gravel can be raked without catching cable, and we locate existing drip lines first so nothing gets nicked.

Generally yes for low-voltage path and accent lighting, though some Sunrise Manor associations restrict fixture height, color temperature, or light spilling onto a neighboring lot.
